Louis Orlando Alvarado, also known as Orlandito to family and friends, passed away on April 23, 2021, after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. He was 69 years old. Louis was born on November 5, 1951 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Jorge and Carmen Haydee Alvarado, and became a lifetime resident of Haverstraw, New York. Everyone who knew Louis knew that he was humble, loveable, respectful and above all, patient. He loved the Lord and he demonstrated that love to those who surrounded him. He was a "gentle giant".
Louis is predeceased by his father, Jorge, his brother, Edwin, his nephew, Robert, his aunt, Ana Figueroa, and his uncle, Manfredo "Chan" Figueroa. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Anita, their four children; Mark, Joseph (Edu), Rebecca (Carlos), and David (Jessica); their eight grandchildren; Keila, Tyara, David, Destiny, Analia, Jadiel, Sophia, and Selah; his siblings; Jorge (Elsie), Madeleine Real, Emilio (Lydia), and his sister-in-law, Irma; his mother, Carmen Haydee, his mother-in-law, Petrona, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Louis will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and son. He was a servant of Christ to all. Louis will be missed, but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held at the George M. Holt Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, May 13th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, May 14th at 10:00 am at Park Church, 4 Roosevelt Place, New City, NY 10956. Burial to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
